Whether you agree with it or not, the internet world is buzzing with blogs. Wordpress.com alone reports over 7 million blogs registered on its .com site and over 2 million new blogs between January and May 2009. Why? Because blogs are an ideal way for business owners to regularly share fresh content on the web and build a relationship with their prospects and customers. Many are now using a blog site as their website. No more static site for them! There are several blog platforms to choose from but I suggest Wordpress. However, as a Social Media Specialist Virtual Assistant, I counsel clients not to use Wordpress.com. I suggest going to Wordpress.org and having a self-hosted site. If you don’t have the skills to get going on your own, many Social Media VAs like myself can help you.

This doesn’t mean that you can offload the entire responsibility onto your VA for your Social Media campaign. Social Media requires your authentic voice which allows your readership to get to know who you are and what you are about. What a VA CAN do, is help you identify your goals and strategies, and take on some of the tasks that require things like research, optimization, syndication, fine-tuning and basically help you stay on track. I offer coaching and consulting, assessment and strategy, profile set-up and ongoing maintenance and support.

I was thinking the other day that this might be why I am so passionate about Social Media. It allows me to ‘travel’ and meet new people. Through the magic of the Internet, I have had the opportunity to meet and develop wonderful relationships with people all over the world. Even though I haven’t traveled to their cities in person, I’ve had the opportunity to learn about them, their families and their cities. But equally important, I’ve had the opportunity to learn about their businesses – their goals and aspirations and even their struggles.

The video is both entertaining and educational. So why is it that there are so few views? Why is no one jumping on proliferating this link as they did for Susan Boyle just weeks ago. Surely everyone knows by now that the rainforests are the lungs of the plant. This is critical situation. Why aren’t we banding together to keep this issue at the forefront?
